Hello Friends,
Today I opened Facebook and saw a memory from 1 year ago. Today is National Quitting Day. Today marks the day people give up on their New Year’s resolutions. How heart breaking is it that we have a day that marks failure on a brand new goal. 12 days into the year people have already given up on their goals. Now I know that New Year’s Resolutions are very cliche, but recently I have really found an interest in personal development and goal setting and after I saw that memory it got me thinking about my goals. A little over a year ago I decided I was fed up with my weight. I was sad and angry and honestly I didn’t believe I could lose. I honestly didn’t believe I could, but here I am 60lbs down. When this memory popped up today I asked myself, “What if I had quit?” What if I gave up the first time it got hard? What if I decided it wasn’t worth it? Tears filled my eyes. I had just finished a 4 mile run. My heart was full of joy because I didn’t quit and now I was running 4 miles. I weigh 191lbs and I ran 4 miles willingly. A year ago I wouldn’t have pictured myself here. Willingly running and pushing myself. Isn’t that wild? So much can change in a year. I want to challenge you not to quit. “But Mikala I don’t have time and it is just to hard.” No stop! Don’t go there. Seriously you can make all the excuses in the world and so could I! Most days I don’t want get up extra early to work out. I don’t want to eat my meal preps. You can only control you! You have to value yourself enough to pursue your goals. Now my goals recently have been health focused, but goals don’t have to be. Remember why you created the goal in the first place. That why is super important especially when it gets tough. Your why keeps you focused on reaching your goal, but at the end of the day I know you have the ability to reach your goal inside of you. Seriously I believe in you. When it gets tough I know you can remember your why, I know you can push through the difficult days to reach your goal! Change is hard. It really is. You may make mistakes. You may slip up, but slip ups don’t mean you can’t reach your goal. What goals do you have for yourself? Love Always, Mikala
