DivaCup Review

Hello Everyone!
So last week mother nature decided it was time to visit me(I know TMI), but I wasn't exactly prepared because I have not gotten a period two months in a row in a really long time. Since I wasn't expecting it I decided to head to Walgreens and go ahead and invest in the DivaCup. I wanted to take sometime and share how my experience was using this product, especially since it is a sustainable option for period care.

Day 1
On the first day I was struggling with how is supposed to feel and how was I supposed to insert it. It is definitely different than using a tampon.  The package contains two different pictures on how to fold the cup for insertion. I used the one I had seen a youtuber do. Also the first time I empty the cup was really disgusting, but it got better after that.
DivaCup Folding
The first step is to flatten the cup while keeping your finger in the middle.

The second step is to fold the flattened cup in half. Now you are ready to insert.

Day 2
I returned to my normal routine. I was back working at my internship, which required a lot of moving around. At some points I felt like it was going to fall out of me, but it wasn't. I also had a successful nights sleep, which on your period can be a challenge. I experienced no links and just a little discomfort as I started to get used to the product.

Day 3
I was getting more use to the cup, still no leaks. This day I tried to do yoga with the cup. It was different, but I did not experience any leaks.

Day 4
I worked an 8 hour shift at work. I really liked not having to worry about leaks while I was at work. By this day, my lady parts were irritated and not happy, but even when I use pads or tampons my lady parts get upset.

Day 5
I knew this was my last day/pretty much over so I just used a pad.

My overall thoughts
Well this product is not for everyone. You really have to feel comfortable enough with touching yourself to use this product. Once you insert it, you do have to spin it around to make sure it is fully open. Also sometimes it ended up going to high and I had to "birth" it to a point where I could grab it and remove it.

For me, I was super happy with this product. Sleeping is one of the most difficult things for me when I am on my period because tampon or pad you have to stress when sleeping about leaks or how long you have been asleep. Not with this product. You can just rest comfortably. I like being able to focus on work, school or other activities without having to worry about leaks and when to change it.

I only emptied my cup at the start and end of the day, but I do not bleed very heavy so this may vary for people. This product really made my period a lot less stressful and I am super glad I invested in it. Even though this product is 40 dollars at Walgreens, if you have regular periods I think this will overall save you money in the long run. Also it is reusable which means you are creating a lot less waste with your period.

Overall I am really happy I invested in this product. Let me know in the comments if you have tried to the DivaCup and what are your thoughts on it.

Love Always,
Mikala

I really like it. If anything you could start with the disposable ones to see if you like it then invest in the reusable one.

I've been on the fence about trying a cup. Glad to hear it is a better alternative while sleeping!
