Hello my Friends!
Recently I started a new adventure. As most of you know I am a WW member, but I started doing Beachbody along with the WW program. This is my first time trying a different program besides WW and I wasn't sure how I would feel about it.
Honestly I joined the program just for the workout aspect of it. I didn't even know there was a nutrition aspect of the program until after I joined and truth be told, I love the nutrition plan they have! I have been double tracking between both programs and using the container system with Beachbody has helped me realize I was missing some food groups in my diet that could have been holding me back.
So what is Beachbody?
Beachbody, as my coach calls it, is the "Netflix of fitness." Pretty much it is on demand workouts with a nutrition system along with it. There are also meal replacement shakes and other supplements that you can choose to partake in. The nutrition system I use with them is the container system. This system uses portion control containers that are different colors for different food groups. Depending on your weight group you get a different allotment of each food group a day.
I'm already doing WW why should I do Beachbody?
I joined Beachbody just to workout. I really had no idea there was a nutrition factor to it. With WW, we can use our points how ever we see fit. And if you are anything like me, you don't measure your 0SP foods or think about adding them in until you have run out of daily's or are planning a splurge. As WW members, we know 0SP foods are not a free for all, yet we do not measure out our fruits and vegetables, or our 0SP proteins like chicken.
When I started double tracking between the programs, I realized I was missing food groups. I was hitting my protein and carbs, but not getting close to hitting fruits and vegetables. Being on a recent stand still in my weight loss, this made me think about what I was putting into my body. Was I using points to fuel my cravings instead of fueling my body? The reality hit that I wasn't fueling my body correctly. Beachbody helped me realize that.
But what you are really paying for when you join Beachbody is the Beachbody on Demand! Those workouts at the touch of your fingertips are truly amazing. It cost less annually for a Beachbody then a gym membership, especially one with classes. Yes WW has Adaptiv, but there are a lot more options and new content coming out with Beachbody.
The Truth Behind the Programs:
If you are a WW member like me I highly recommend looking into joining Beachbody. Not only does it give you extra nutrition resources to help your journey, but you get tons of amazing workouts! I honestly recommend doing both. Especially if you are already a WW member.
Now if you are looking to start a program here is my recommendation; the more affordable route is definitely Beachbody. You sign up for a year long subscription, you usually join under a coach you helps hold you accountable. You will have opportunities to join challenge groups which are super interactive and tons of fun!
With that being said, I did loose 50lbs with WW and I stand behind the program. WW is a monthly cost. There are 3 different levels and until recently I was on the plan that included weekly meetings. I highly recommend the meetings, especially if you are just starting out. They hold you accountable and you can't fake your weigh ins(I know I'm not the only one who would totally do this). This program is mainly food based. They have started adding Activity Points and have partnered with programs like Headspace and Adaptiv to help you with your overall journey to wellness.
I do think WW is a little bit easier to follow because you just search what you ate and put it in. It also is easier to plan for cheat meals or slip ups, without feeling like you ruined your entire week. This fact alone has helped my relationship with food. Both programs are proven to work. But I am going to be really honest with you, and it might hurt a little. If you aren't looking to think about what you are eating and drinking, if you aren't ready to remove things from your diet, if you aren't looking to make changes to your eating, neither program is for you.
Both programs require you to measure portions and track what you eat. Truth be told, as a fellow food addict and still obese person, without tracking my food I would be back where I started if not heavier. You have to track what you are eating and you have to be mindful of what you are eating. Both programs require you to track your food. Both programs require you to be accountable. And both programs help you develop better relationships with food, but you have to put in the work!
Now for the shameless plug:
Below is my referral link for WW, this does give both you and me a free month of WW and who doesn't like FREE!!!!
I'm also starting the process to become a Beachbody Coach, meaning I am hardcore thinking about it. If you are interested in the program please reach out to me here or on Instagram and I would be more than happy to hook you up with my coach or help you start myself!
Leave a comment and let me know your experiences with both programs or if you have any questions.
